Future City

I’ve been involved lately with the Future City Engineering Competition. It’s a project where you make a virtual city, and then make a model, essay, and city narrative to solve the years topic for the future. I did it last year and lost by less than a point. This year, with a bigger team, I’m trying again.

I went to the competition yesterday, presented perfectly, and the judges loved it. Then, the special awards judges came around ap, and the worst thing that could possibly happen, happened- the motor broke. Working under extreme pressure, I managed to replace the motor, and fix the model.

In the end, our team did okay: we didn’t win and get to go to Washington DC, but our team won an award for “Most Efficient Solution to Transportation.” In my opinion, this was the best award, for it said the we did the best job at solving this years problem of the future.

  1. Congratulations on your award, Dillon. And congratulations on performing well under such pressure: this won’t be the last time that something unexpected happens, requiring you to do your best under stressful circumstances!
